Meet Doctor Barbara F.Smith
Motivated by the aspiration to provide individual, quality dental care with understanding…
Dr. Smith’s path to becoming a dentist began when she was a child in Mexico. As a youngster with a sweet tooth, she had many dental services performed on her teeth such as fillings, crowns, and braces. No stranger to dental procedures, she experienced what it is like to be the patient in a dental chair. The gratitude for the wonderful dental care she received, coupled with the understanding of a patient’s fears and trepidations, led her to pursue a career in dentistry. She earned a dental degree at the Universidad Intercontinental and was a dentist in Mexico City for six years before coming to the United States. While in Dayton, Ohio where she was taking intensive English classes to prepare her for the Test of English as a Foreign Language Exam (TOEFL), Dr. Smith met her husband John who was studying photography. After passing the TOEFL, she applied and was accepted to The Indiana University School of Dentistry. Upon graduation in 1994, she joined the staff of a dental practice in Indianapolis. At the same time, she was asked to become a faculty member of The Indiana University School of Dentistry where she was an instructor for 23 years. In 1999, motivated by a desire to provide individualized quality dental care with an emphasis on building genuine relationships with her patients, she opened her own private practice in Fishers, Indiana. Dr. Smith, who lives in Fishers with her husband John, and their two daughters Gabriela and Hannah, is proud to serve the Fishers and Indianapolis area. However, her practice also includes many loyal patients that, although they have moved away from the community, return a couple times a year in order to have a dental appointment with Dr. Smith.
