Root Canal Therapy is a procedure that is needed when the nerve of a tooth is affected by decay, infection, or a severe fracture. It is necessary to save the tooth to maintain the integrity of your pearly whites.  In order to save the tooth, the nerve is removed and the root is sealed with a plastic material called gutta percha.  Root Canal Therapy is a highly successful and relatively easy procedure. After the tooth is saved, it can be restored to give back function as well as a beautiful and natural look. In addition, care is taken to protect the tooth from any future contamination. As with all the procedures performed in Dr. Smith’s office, the process is done with an unhurried and gentle touch.
